OUR PRODUCTS

What is Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)?

Good manufacturing practice guides manufacturing, testing, and quality assurance to ensure that the manufacture and sale of food, drug products, and active pharmaceutical products are safe for human consumption.

How do we make our products?

Our health supplements are developed in cooperation with leading herbalists, homoeopaths and biochemists. Product development and manufacturing takes place in Norway and the EU, according to GMP standards (Good Manufacturing Practice).

New requirements for documentation

The authorities have established new requirements for documentation on the effect of health supplements. Eqology evaluates our information about health supplements and will make necessary changes required by the new international rules (should there be a reason for it.)

Are any of your ingredients on (WADA) “prohibited list”?

All of our products are based on natural, high-efficiency ingredients that are not on WADA’s “prohibited list” and are tested for banned substances and approved by Cologne List®.

Are your products tested on animals?

Our suppliers guarantee that none of Eqology’s products is tested on animals:

  • We do not test our finished products on animals or engaging others to do so.
  • All ingredients may have been tested on animals at some point in history, but we have not tested our product’s ingredients on animals.
  • Our suppliers guarantee that they do not test the ingredients on animals, or engaging others to do so.
  • We do not conduct animal testing in the manufacturing process of our products or engage others to do so.
  • Eqology is registered on Animal Welfare Alliance’s list of products and brands that are not tested on animals.

New articles are constantly published claiming that we do not need supplements. What do you think?

Eqology and most people who work with health care believe that in an ideal world we would all get enough vitamins, minerals and other substances vital to our body through a varied diet.

The reality is that very few of us can achieve this. Therefore, we offer our products – as supplements to a regular diet to ensure that users of our products get enough of the vital substances the body needs every day.

Are the herbs and the various ingredients we use in our products are standardised, safe and legal?

All ingredients in Eqology’s products are approved according to EU and Norwegian laws.

The herbal ingredients used are on the “Herbal List” of approved commercial ingredients for food products. We have selected our specific raw materials based on evaluation of the ingredient quality documentation such as specifications, various certificates proving the absence of unwanted components in the extracts, stability data, certificate of analysis for each batch of a herbal extract made and documentation showing that production quality is according to industry standard.

We collaborate with an elite selection of suppliers that we know well and who practice reasonable internal quality control. National Food Safety Authorities approve all our manufacturers for food and nutrition product manufacturing regulated by EU and Norwegian law with clear directives. Concerning safety, the consumption of minerals and vitamins is strictly different substances that are allowed in food supplements.

Are your products approved in other countries?

Eqology adheres to current rules and regulations with regards to labelling and testing of products in each of the countries where we sell our products.

Are Eqology’s products organic?

The rules for what can be labelled as organic differs from country to country, and this makes it complicated for those of us operating throughout Europe.

There is no guarantee that organic products are natural and pure: a product may contain a lot of “non-organic” ingredients but still be defined as organic as long as the organic portion is high enough.

Our goal is to have as natural and pure products as possible, without compromising functionality and effect, at an affordable user price.

This is why we have chosen not to emphasise our organic products in our marketing mix. It is challenging to get organic/ecological status on the entire product portfolio. Some of our products are organic without being marketed as organic, but we cannot at this time guarantee that they will remain organic forever.

This is due to the supply and quality of the raw materials at any given time. Some products will never become organic, such as a product with a high proportion of water – since water cannot be labelled as organic.

Can I use Eqology’s products if I’m on prescription medication or have a health issue?

Eqology products are designed to keep healthy people healthy. If you are on any medication or have health issues, you should consult your physician before consuming our products.

Can I use Eqology’s products while I’m pregnant?

Pregnant women must ensure that they consume sufficient diversity of nutrients. All of Eqology’s products are defined as foods – that contribute to keeping the body healthy.

None of our products contains ingredients at levels, which should cause concern during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant. However, there is a golden rule that we ask patients, pregnant women and individuals with a particular dietary need to consult with their physician before using supplements.

This rule also applies to pregnant and breastfeeding women in general- even though our products do not have any special warnings for this group of women, e.g. essential oils that some women choose to avoid entirely during pregnancy. If you have any concerns at all, we advise you to consult your doctor or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list before using the product. Our ingredients lists are available on our website. (select the product you are interested in, and you’ll see a tab to click on for the ingredient listing).

Can you send me free samples?

Currently, free Eqology Samples are not available for general distribution.

PURE ARCTIC OIL

Should women use Pure Arctic Oil while pregnant or breastfeeding?

For precisely this group it is especially important to get a daily supplement of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, both of which you can find in Pure Arctic Oil. The health authorities in Denmark recommend omega-3 to pregnant women to make sure that they get enough vitamin D and omega-3. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium, which ensures the optimal development of the fetus’s bone structure. Pure Arctic Oil also has lots of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, which is essential for the development of the brain and vision. Some studies indicate that if a mother gets enough omega-3 during pregnancy, the baby’s brain will develop better.

What is wrong with taking rancid oil or capsules? Shouldn’t an omega-3 fish oil taste like fish?

Fresh fish oil tastes neutral and does not smell. A strong odour of fish in omega-3 products tells us that fat is rancid, which is not suitable for us. Randic fish oil pulls at our supply of vitamins C and E (our most important antioxidants) to neutralise the oxidised fat. Oxidisation/going rancid increases the attacks on the tissue by free radicals, which is the basis for many illnesses and early ageing.

What is the difference between EPA and DHA?

Omega-3 is the general term for a group of different fatty acids. Some of these fatty acids have shown positive effects on our health. This is why it is essential to choose products that provide you with the types of omega-3 that have a documented variety, namely DHA and EPA. EPA has a chain of 20 carbon atoms and five double bonds, while DHA has a string of 22 carbon atoms and 6 double bonds. There is a lot of DHA in the brain, heart and eyes, and it is, therefore, safe to suppose that this fatty acid is of great importance to these organs. EPA is a precursor to neurotransmitters as a part of inflammation processes and can take part in managing this process.

DHA has more health claims than EPA, and the best omega-3 products contain a more significant portion of DHA than EPA.
The EU Commission has approved the following health claims under the following food laws: Commission Regulation 432/2012 (EU) of 16/05/2012 and Commission Regulation 536/2013 (EU) of 11/06/2013 for the marine omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA and vitamin D3:

  • DHA and EPA contribute to the normal function of the heart (0,25 g per day)
  • DHA and EPA contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure (3 g per day)
  • DHA and EPA contribute to maintaining normal triglyceride levels in the blood (2 g per day)
  • DHA contributes to maintaining normal triglyceride levels in the body (2 g per day combined with EPA)
  • DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function (0,25 g per day)
  • DHA contributes to maintaining healthy vision and eye function (0,25 g per day)
  • The mother’s intake of DHA contributes to healthy brain development in the fetus and breastfed children (0,2 g DHA in addition to the recommended daily amount of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA+DHA), which is 0,25 g)
  • The mother’s intake of DHA contributes to healthy eye development in the fetus and breastfed children (0,2 g DHA in addition to the recommended daily amount of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA+DHA), which is 0,25 g).

dha_epa_ala2

What is the difference between fish oil and cod liver oil?

Fish oil and cod liver oil are two different things. While cod liver oil is made from cod liver only, fish oil is made from the entire fish.

Does it really make that much difference which omega-3 product you choose?

There are many omega-3 products on the market, and all of them are not the same, although it might seem that way. In 2011 the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food Safety released two reports about omega-3 products. One of them concluded that it was beneficial to the health to ingest omega-3 fatty acids. The other found that there might be some concerns connected to rancid products among the omega-3 products. It is therefore crucial for the consumer to choose high-quality omega-3 products from severe and known manufacturers who have this under control.

Many studies show it is vital to get enough omega-3. Some researches point out that the results of the reviews are closely connected to which omega-3 products are used in the study. This indicates that it is essential to choose the right omega-3 product to get the health benefits of taking omega-3.

Is it possible to get too much omega-3?

There has not been found any adverse effect of taking doses up to 3 grams of omega-3 per day. Doses higher than 3 grams are classified as a medicine, and should only be taken under the supervision of a doctor.

Does taking omega-3 decrease blood pressure?

The bleeding time can be lengthened some by the regular intake of omega-3 fatty acids of more than 1 gram daily. This can lead to the heart not needing to create as much pressure each time the blood is to be pumped around the body, and thus the blood pressure can be somewhat decreased. This has also been shown in several clinical studies.

Can you combine omega-3 with anticoagulants?

In general, everyone who is on anticoagulants should consult a doctor if they want to start (or stop) taking dietary supplements.

In what other foods besides fish and cod liver oil can we find omega-3 fatty acids?

Vegetable omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) can be found in several foods, but the most important source is vegetable oils. DHA and EPA can only be found in marine products such as fatty fish, fish oil and marine algae. It is these long-chained fatty acids, DHA and EPA, that give us the principal health benefits.

Algae oil has both DHA and EPA and can be a perfect option for people who are leading a vegetarian lifestyle or don’t eat enough fish.

Eqology offers a revolutionary dietary supplement with omega-3 oil derived straight from the marine alga, called Schizochytrium sp. These fresh microalgae are a rich source of Omega-3 docosahexaenoic and eicosapentaenoic acids.

What is the difference between omega-3 and omega-6?

Our bodies can produce most of the fats they need, but some types of fatty acids must be gotten through our diet. These are called essential fatty acids, and they are divided into two groups: Omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 fatty acids) and omega-6 fatty acids (n-6 fatty acids). Omega-3 is found mainly in oily fish while omega-6 has many more sources, such as wholemeal bread, eggs, most vegetable oils and grains.

Our modern diet is comprised of an increasing amount of processed foods as well as industrially fed fish and meat. This means that the choice of ingredients in the fish and animal feed these days have been left to the food industry, who, for simple economic reasons have overused cheap vegetable oils full of omega-6, such as corn, soy, palm and sunflower oils in animal feed. At the same time, we eat too little fish products, which are the primary source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Studies show that we, on average, have 15 times more omega-6 than omega-3 in us, when the recommended ratio is about 2:1. An imbalance of omega-6/3 together with getting too little omega-3 is connected to different unfavourable health conditions such as an increased inflammation level, reduced immune system and metabolism, as well as adverse effects on organs such as the brain, heart and eyes. This is why it is essential to take Pure Arctic Oil, which provides a supplement of omega-3 fatty acids and helps the body to achieve a more balanced ratio between the types of fatty acids. The goal for everyone wishing to care for their health should be to attain an omega-6/omega-3 ratio of 5 or lower; which means that you have at most 5 times as many omega-6 fatty acids as you do omega-3 fatty acids in your body.

Why is vitamin D so important?

Vitamin D is the key to our immune system. We who live so far in the North and have long winters with limited sunlight, have traditionally gotten our vitamin D from fish, and especially cod liver oil. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which strengthen the teeth and bones. It is also vital for fighting cancer.  Newer research shows that we need 5 times more vitamin D than earlier recommendations. Children and the elderly need twice as much vitamin D as adults. Among other thing, sun lotions with SPF stop the transformation of sunlight to vitamin D through the skin. This is one of the reasons why you should take Pure Arctic Oil every day throughout the year.

Is Pure Arctic Oil an omega-3 product?

Yes, this is an omega-3 product (with added organic cold-pressed high-quality olive oil (omega-9) and vitamin D3.

How much oil should I take daily?

The recommended daily dose is 0,15 ml per 1 kg of body weight. We recommend a double dose for the first month.

Is Pure Arctic Oil a purely omega-3 product, or are there added ingredients?

Pure Arctic Oil is fish oil (EPA and DHA), with added organic cold-pressed high-quality olive oil, vitamin E (stabilizer), flavour (lemon), vitamin D3.

Why have you added olive oil to Pure Arctic Oil?

We have chosen to add omega-9 fatty acids and high levels of polyphenol antioxidants from a unique cold-pressed olive oil. Omega-9 fatty acids contribute to maintaining healthy blood vessels, a healthy heart and they also help manage the body’s blood sugar levels. The solution to preventing inflammation reaction and cardiovascular disease is to increase the intake of high-quality omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids, and not to merely reduce the consumption of omega-6.

Why has there been added omega-3 and omega-9 to Pure Arctic Oil, but not omega-6?

In today’s Western diet we get too much omega-6 compared to how much omega-3 we get. For this reason, it is not necessary to get omega-6 as a supplement.

Where does the oil in Pure Arctic Oil come from?

The omega-3 oil comes from cod, haddock and saithe fished from the cold, nutritious Arctic Ocean.

What type of fish is the oil in Pure Arctic Oil from?

The oil comes from cod, haddock and saithe.

What part of the cod does the oil in Pure Arctic Oil come from?

The head and liver of cod are especially fatty and contain large amounts of omega-3.

Can Pure Arctic Oil cause allergies?

People with fish and shellfish allergies should be aware that the product contains oil from fish.

Are there anyone who should not use Pure Arctic Oil?

People on anticoagulants, women who are pregnant or children under the age of 1 should consult a doctor before using the product.

How do I store Pure Arctic Oil?

Unopened bottles should be stored in a dark, dry and a cool place or refrigerated. The opened bottle should be refrigerated and used within 90 days. Store out of the reach of children.

The oil in Pure Arctic Oil has become cloudy, has it gone old?

When storing at under 4ºC the oil can become opaque due to the olive oil. After a few minutes in room temperature, the oil will again become clear.

Can children take Pure Arctic Oil, and from what age?

Children can take Pure Arctic Oil – as soon as they can swallow. Follow the recommended dosage on the bottle.

What time of day is it best to take Pure Arctic Oil?

Any time that fits into your daily routines is OK.

How does the fish oil in Pure Arctic Oil retain its good effect without going rancid?

When a bottle of Pure Arctic Oil is opened, it is exposed to oxygen. If the bottle is left open in a warm room, it will be more vulnerable to rancid. This is why it is recommended to be refrigerated.

Does the fish oil in Pure Arctic Oil contain heavy metals?

No, the oil is purged of all heavy metals and other possible pollutants.

Do you have to take a blood test to know if a person needs a supplement of omega-3 or if they are getting enough?

No, dry skin can be a visible sign of the body lacking essential fatty acids, also bumpy skin on the back of the upper arm. The body will prioritise the cells in the vital internal organs first, and therefore the skin will be the last organ to get the essential fats.
Other known symptoms of a lack of fatty acids can be:

  • Poor brain development;
  • Problems maintaining focus and attention;
  • Mood swings, emotional lability;
  • Internal tension/unrest;
  • Anxiety, depression;
  • Increased thirst, frequent urination and large quantities of urine;
  • Atopic illness (especially eczema);
  • Dry hair and dandruff, soft or brittle nails;
  • Reduced growth.

“Fun” facts:
EFSA – The EU’s food safety authority, reports that adults only get 32% of the recommended daily amount of omega-3 and that children get only 25%. In Western Europe and the USA, there is a big underconsumption of essential omega-3 fatty acids and corresponding overconsumption of pain-reducing medication because of various types of inflammation-based illnesses.

Why does Eqology recommend customers to take a double dose the first month?

The body is a machine that adjusts and adapts. Although we generally say that a red blood cell functions for an average of 120 days, and that the amount of omega-3 fatty acids we can “shove” into the already existing blood cells are limited, experience shows that people who on the onset have too low omega-3 index values will be able to raise them faster by doubling their omega-3 intake in the beginning. This can be because the “new blood cells” then incorporate more omega-3 fatty acids than they usually would. The same could be the case with other cells in the body. It is also known practice to prescribe a higher “loading-dose” of various medicines, such as antibiotics etc.

Why a subscription with a 6 month binding period?

This is mainly so that we can offer our customers the best possible prices for the oil and the test.

It is also generally known that regular use of omega-3 fatty acids will contribute to maintaining good health. Many of the positive effects on the health aren’t felt until some time has passed – and that time can be longer than it takes to gain better measurable values for the omega-3 index and omega-6/omega-3 ratio. For this reason, it is crucial that our customers get the little extra “push” to choose a healthy lifestyle – and a healthy intake of omega-3 – over time.

Low Totox values

Low Totox values are considered a sign of a good-quality Omega-3 oil. Totox is a calculated value of “oxidation products” in the relevant omega-3-oil values and is the sum of 2x PV + AV. The Totox value in the fish oil we use in our Pure Arctic Oil is lower, and thus better than the lowest value measured in “TV2 hjelper deg”, a Norwegian consumer guide program when testing Norwegian omega-3 products in 2014. The lowest value measured in the program was 9,3. The benefits in the omega-3 oil which Eqology uses varies slightly depending on the batch but is somewhere between 4 and 6.

OMEGA-3 TEST

Where can I see the results of my test?

Go to omegaratiotest.com and register your Omega-3 Test ID number to access your results.

Is it necessary to fast before taking the test?

No, fasting is not necessary.

In the accompanying leaflet it says the blood sample must be sent in the same day or the next at the latest. I live far away, is there a risk that this can affect the analysis?

The sample will keep in room temperature at least 7 days. If you live far away, it might be a good idea to not send the test just before a weekend or national holiday, but to store it in the refrigerator and send it the first possible business day.

Can the analysis be affected if I am a vegetarian, pregnant, breast-feeding, dieting, have diabetes or an illness/cancer

Can the use of Pure Arctic Oil help if you already have cancer, a weak immune system, and inflammation reactions in the body?

It is not harmful to determine one’s omega-6/omega-3 ratio. If you have an illness that is being medically treated, the test results should be discussed with your doctor. Also, the use of Pure Arctic Oil should be discussed with your doctor if you are on certain medications. We want to stress again that Pure Arctic Oil is a health product, where use is recommended to stay healthy and prevent illnesses.

Can my diet or illness the last few days before taking the test affect the results?

Not to any significant degree.

Are there other factors I should take into account that can affect the results of the test?

Not to any significant degree.

Is it dangerous to handle other people’s blood tests when bearing in mind different blood diseases?

We recommend that you collect your own blood sample yourself and that you avoid collecting the sample from others.

Is the test kit sealed?

Yes, the test kit itself and the lancets that are used to prick your finger are both sealed.

What is the privacy policy around my results and are they securely stored?

Our analysis partner Vitas AS entirely handles the results. Only the person who was tested and certified personnel at the Vitas laboratory have access to the results.

This is the optimal composition that provides a steady supply of amino acids throughout a more extended period and simultaneously provides the body with nutritious plant proteins with antioxidant properties that promote muscle recovery after exercise.

We build our competence on information from manufacturers and generally available knowledge through years of descriptions, experience and studies. This rule, therefore, applies to pregnancy in general – even though our products do not carry any special warnings for this group of women.

It is essential to be aware that a baby’s stomach and intestines are not entirely developed in the beginning. Proteins are large molecules that are mainly made up of chains of several hundreds of amino acids. They can be heavy to digest for an immature stomach and intestinal system. For this reason, if you want to use EQ Shake when breastfeeding, it would be a good idea to try it gradually. If the baby shows signs of the discomfort of stomach pains after you have taken EQ Shake or EQ Pure Vegan Shake, you should wait a while and try again once the baby has had a chance to grow and develop a bit more.

ANTI AGE COLLAGEN

Why is not Anti Age Collagen produced as capsules?

The reason why Anti Age Collagen is sold only in powder form and not in capsules is the volume required for a daily dose. The size is too large to fit into an exact number of capsules.

From which fish is the fish collagen in Anti Age Collagen extracted?

The fish used in Anti Age Collagen are farmed species of Pangasius and Tilapia, whitefish species better known in warmer countries than in Northern Europe and in Norway. These species are adapted to farming primarily for food production and thus utilisation of these fish does not affect vulnerable fish resources. The by-products (bone, skin and connective tissue), which contains most of the fish’s collagen, are utilised in the production of collagen powder. After extraction, the collagen is hydrolysed, i.e. broken down into low molecular weight components using water and one or more enzymes.

Does EQ Anti Age Collagen contain DHA?

No, our supplier has confirmed that there is no DHA in Anti Age Collagen. However, as there might be small traces of DHA in any fish-based product, they do not guarantee 100% absence, especially regarding serious allergies.

Does Anti Age Collagen contain iodine?

There is not conducted any analyse of iodine content. The product is not added iodine.

Is it safe to consume Anti Age Collagen when pregnant and breast feeding?

Anti Age Collagen is not mainly safety tested and documented for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Presently we are not aware of any studies looking at the transfer of low molecular collagen in the umbilical cord and across the placenta; meaning the foetus might digest traces of collagen. According to the producer, the risk for any associated safety concern is shallow; however, it is generally essential to take precautions when pregnant and breastfeeding and when infants are involved. Collagen is a natural protein that is not uncommon in food and hydrolysed low molecular weight collagen is a break-down product of natural collagen and thus not unusual for the body.

Can you tell more about the anti-caking agent Anti Age Collagen

The silicon dioxide (also prevents lumping) in Anti Age Collagen is a natural mineral which we normally consume through food (mostly vegetables). We need silica for the natural growth of bone structure.
