Vitamin K2 + D3

– Support of bone health

Today there is an increasing interest in research and in understanding the physiological ageing process. Both new and previously known ingredients’ abilities to influence the ageing process are being studied. As we age most people get stiffer blood vessels, either because of a loss of elasticity or calcification of the arteries. Several international studies show that vitamin K2 can help to support the delay the development of arterial stiffness, and support bone tissues. These factors are important when we age, but also throughout life.

Vitamin K2 through food

Vitamin K2 is hard to find in the western diet because the vitamin is made by the “good” bacterias used in fermentation in certain foods. Before the fridge was invented fermented foods used to be a practical way of storing food and preventing it from going bad, and at the same time it brought great health benefits. Today such foods are unfortunately too scarce in the western diet. An option is to include a food supplement containing vitamin K2, as part of a healthy and balanced diet. Food sources of vitamin D are also relatively low but include fatty fish, egg yolk among others. The largest contributor to vitamin D3 is the sun. In periods where sun exposure is low, a food supplement is often recommended.
